Alameda County Regional Meeting on Homelessness
July 22, 2019 The Alameda County Board of Supervisors met with Mayors and city representatives from 14 cities and the Unincorporated Area of Alameda County to open a coordinated dialogue on the Homeless Crisis. Powerpoint presentations |
Brief Summary:
Everyone Home presented the latest statistics in the 2019 Point-in-Time Count (see chart); Alameda County discussed Priority Projects, a Three-Year Homelessness Action Plan and an overview of the regional Homelessness Funding Data; Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin presented the majority of Mayors concerns regarding immediate issues, attainable goals and funding.
An open discussion on the need for better partnership and collaboration going forward was stressed and the Supervisors alluded to an upcoming announcement on a Czar to oversee the Homeless Crisis and bridge the gap between cities and county.
Public speakers then gave citizen concerns to elected officials to address the crisis more effectively.
