Community Forum: The installation of Community Cabins for the Homeless
in Jack London Square area.
Meeting held at Crooked City Cider Taphouse, December 12.
Area residents and homeless advocates were invited to participate in a forum to discuss concerns
about the installation of Community Cabins for homeless at Oak Street, scheduled to open in January 2020.
Forum participants included:
Lara Tannenbaum, Oakland Human Services;
Brigitte Cook, representing Oakland Councilmember Lynette McElhaney;
Noha Aboelata, Roots Clinic, which will manage and operate the site;
Savlan Houser, Jack London Improvement District;
Spokeswoman from Family Bridges, which will provide Housing Navigation Services;
Site manager from Miller Ave. Community Cabins, a comparable site also operated by Roots
in Jack London Square area.
